Don’t become me

There’s that one thing you still turn over in your mind —
what if, back then, you’d taken the other road?
Tell it here; AI rebuilds the moment you were in,
and lets you step back, choose again, and walk it through,
to see how that other version of you turns out.

What this is

The road you didn’t take — walk it this time

“Don’t become me” sounds like a warning from someone who’s been there. But you’ve probably wondered, quietly: maybe the version of me I never became had it better. Here, you get to be that person for a while.

You tell the story you’ve never quite put down, and AI follows your telling to rebuild what it was really like — the fork you stood at, the people around you, the choices that were actually in your hands.

Then you go back to that moment, take the other way this time, one decision after another, and watch the other version of you walk it all the way through.

How it works

Three steps, one road not taken

① Tell the story

You talk; AI rebuilds it

Recount something that’s stayed with you — say, “the year I was 28, torn over whether to quit.” AI asks a few gentle questions to fill in the details and rebuilds it into a fork you can actually walk into. It stays between you and the AI, saved only after you’ve looked it over, and by default it’s yours alone.

② Go back, choose again

This time, you decide

Each step gives you a scene and a few options. You choose; AI plays out what that choice gains and what it costs, then generates the next fork. One playthrough is one road you never took, walked all the way to the end.

③ Arrive somewhere

See where that road leads

No right answer, no score. At the end you see what this road earned and what it quietly cost — and the last frame brings you gently back: the road you actually walked carries its own weight too.

The ledger

No optimal answer. Only different accounts.

Every ending settles into a ledger — what this road gained, and what it quietly cost. Here is one such account, from a single playthrough.

The ledger
Mental reserve Spent
Health Unchanged
Wealth Fuller
Fulfillment Fuller
With your mother More distant
With an old friend Rekindled

No better version — only a different account.

What you take with you

You might walk away with something else

  • This isn’t about handing you the “right” choice. Walking the other road, you might come to a little more peace with the one you made — or simply understand it better.
  • Every ending has its gains and its losses, none better or worse; it only shows you what another way of living might have looked like.
  • What you tell here is yours by default. Whether to make it public or share it is entirely your call — export everything anytime, or delete it all for good.
  • This isn’t medical care or therapy. If something has you in a hard place, please reach out to a professional near you.

The road you never took — where does it actually lead? This time, walk it and see for yourself.
