Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 21, 2026
Unbecome (hereinafter “the Service”) is operated by the Unbecome team (hereinafter “we” or “us”). The Service exists to break a stretch of lived experience into a structure of forks you can walk again. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over your own data. We aim to collect as little as possible and to hand control back to you.
1. What We Collect
· Account information: your registered email and your password stored only as a one-way hash (we do not store, and cannot recover, your plaintext password).
· Content you create: the personal account of your experience that you contribute, the follow-up questions and answers, and the story seeds generated from them and saved with your confirmation.
· Play records: the choices, progression, and ending portrait of each playthrough.
· Cookies: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and, for visitors who are not signed in, a guest cookie used to meter the free play allowance.
· Technical logs: limited operational logs generated for troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
2. How We Use It
Only to: provide and maintain the Service (generating, saving, and letting you revisit your stories and playthroughs), keep you signed in, prevent abuse through allowances, and safeguard the Service and troubleshoot it. We do not use your content for advertising, nor do we sell your personal information.
3. Third-Party Processing (Important)
The Service’s content generation relies on third-party large language model (LLM) services. The personal account and the follow-up questions and answers you submit are sent to a third-party LLM provider for processing, in order to generate questions and stories. Such content is subject to that provider’s own privacy and data policies. Please do not include in your account any highly sensitive personal information you would not wish to be processed by a third party (such as ID numbers, bank card numbers, or other people’s private details).
Email-verification and password-reset links are delivered through a third-party email service.
4. Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a secure database. Data at rest is protected by disk / volume encryption, and data in transit is protected with TLS. Passwords are kept only as one-way hashes. Even so, no system can guarantee absolute security; we make reasonable efforts to protect your data.
5. Your Rights
· Export: you may export your account profile, creations, and play records at any time (available within your profile page; your password is never included).
· Deletion / account closure: you may delete your account at any time. Deletion will cascade to remove the stories you created, derivative and play records, and related tokens — this is irreversible.
· You may also access and correct your own data; if you have questions about how your data is processed, you can reach us through the contact details below.
6. Data Retention
We retain the above data for as long as you use the Service; after you delete content or close your account, the corresponding data is deleted (copies on backup media are purged within the ordinary rotation cycle).
7. Minors
The Service involves writing about heavy life experiences and is not intended for minors under 16 years of age; if you are below the age of legal consent in your region, please use the Service under the guidance of a guardian.
8. This Is Not a Medical or Psychological Service
The Service is a narrative experience product. It does not provide medical, psychological diagnostic, or therapeutic advice, and its generated content does not constitute professional opinion of any kind. If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis, please reach out to someone you trust, a mental-health helpline in your region, or your local emergency services.
9. Changes and Contact
If this policy is updated, we will revise the date at the top of the page and give notice within reason. If you have any questions, please contact: [email protected].
